GM to recall 800,000 SUVs

General Motors Corp. said Tuesday it will recall about 800,000sport-utility vehicles and pickup trucks in Illinois, Indiana and 12other Northern states because corrosion was affecting the antilockbrake system, leading to more than 200 low-speed crashes. GM, theworld's largest automaker, said the recall involved the 1999-2002model years of the Chevrolet Avalanche, Chevrolet Silverado,Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Sierra, GMC Yukon and GMC Yukon XL. A specificrecall date has not been announced but the company will notifyowners, who will be instructed to take their vehicles intodealerships to have the trucks repaired free.
