Wre: Ibrahim wins Egypt's first gold since 1948

ATHENS, Aug 26 Reuters - Karam Ibrahim won Egypt's first Olympic gold medal since 1948
today when he thrashed Ramaz Nozadze of Georgia in the 96kg class of the Greco-Roman wrestling
in Athens.

The powerful 24-year-old secured the title after only three minutes, 22 seconds of
the bout, winning by a scoreline of 12-1.

Ibrahim's winning margin equalled the scoreline in the semi-final in which he beat
Mehmet Ozal of Turkey.

Ozal held on to beat Iranian Masoud Hashemzadeh in a close contest for the bronze medal.
